100 * - Throwback 2016

Every blogger in this blog world aspires to reach a milestone for some period of time. Like some might want to write 1000 posts. Some might wish to publish a book and many goals as such! When I stepped into this year 2016, I never had any blogging goals as such. I was even sceptical if I would even have sufficient time to blog or even visit my blog. But on the last day of the year, I feeling relaxed and perplexed at the same time. My blogging calendar every year starts with the One Night Stand on a New year night post that exposes the life of a  mischief monger who preys on innocent girls. Each post of this series conveys messages that have a deep meaning associated with it. But unfortunately for the past few years, I've been disturbed for some reasons as a result of which I couldn't blog better.

I am not a blogger who brags about statistics as such. But sometimes the realisation that you got some many amazing people reading your blog itself amazes me. But seeing my blog reaching a milestone always awakens the blogger inside me. To be frank, I never thought I would be a better blog. I am a lazy blogger. I come across many bloggers who put in so many efforts despite doing their everyday chores. When I compare myself with these folks, I  feel ashamed.

On a personal front, there is nothing great that happening in my life. The much-desired job switch never happened though I  would closely work on improving my skill sets this year. I thought of working on some new skills and tools but unfortunately, that plan itself went for a toss. But still, I won't complain and crib about 2016. All that I ask at this point of time is some mental peace in my life.  Maybe I need to go for a short trip.  Parents had been looking for a girl for me to get married. Maybe that would get postponed for some period of time.
I never visited any new place this year. I am disappointed with this. It's okay! people can get busy too. In 2017, I'll work on my aspirations and goals. I got to get fit and get going. I know life would be painful at times. But ignoring all the problems that life offers will make your life better. I will continue with the 2017 blogging with the ONS posts.

I will contribute to a poor student's education and maybe even plan to sponsor his fees. I have many plans as such but only things will say. This happens to be the 100th post of this year. I have written 659 blog posts in my 11 years of blogging. But I have never published 100 blog posts in any year. The closest that I reached to 100 was 99 in 2015 and 95 in 2009.  Writing 100 blog posts in a year is not an achievement but it satisfies me as a blogger. I'm happy that I did this! It has been pending since long.

I am back to regular blogging!
Let the force be with you all! Power to you, my dear people :)

My First Job

My First Job
‘This post is a part of Write Over the Weekend, an initiative for Indian Bloggers by BlogAdda.’

I'm at loss of words if  I'm asked to talk about my first job. I can't imagine the number of days I waited for my joining days. It  was the great recession era and hence the joining date for us was delayed by a period of 6 months. I had  secured the  job through the third year campus placements and by far that was the turning part of my life. My excitement grew more since then but because of the delay it soon faded.  There wasn't a single day I didn't refresh my mailbox.  But my happiness hiked  when I saw the letter.

I had my joining location as Pune. For someone who wasn't used to wake up before 8 and a momma's boy, it was difficult to acclimatise.  But I did manage. We underwent an initial training programme to be eligible for projects. After successfully completing the project, a major shock awaited me. I got my first project and I was posted to Noida. By then, this place was known for many wrong reasons. I felt weird  and helpless. I tried talking to the HR's but they bluntly asked me to resign if  won't join the Noida project. The phase was such that there was not much IT jobs. I had to listen to my mind and when I think about that decision I don't regret.

I somehow joined my  project. The positive was that my friend was with me. We both struggled to find a house for rent. When we settled life moved on and there was never looking back. The first day at project , Noida decided to greet us with hailstorms. The solid particle fell on my head and it did hurt me. The wind was so strong that we hugged a tree to save us. Our clothes were messed up as we fell on the puddles. It was embarassing for us to enter our ODC in such a manner. Every one looked at us and it was awkward. I never knew we would meet our Project Manager at such a state.  We were given formal Knowledge Transfer and soon we became productive. But there wasn't a single day when I didn't think about my family.  I used to cry for hours. During one  Skype call, my mother broke in to tears when I informed her that I was having problems with the food. Life had did injustice to me and I had spent sleepless nights. My digestive couldn't digest the nasty foul smelling Rajmah Chawal at our office cafeteria any more. I found solace in a group of Bengali friends. They all loved me as their own.

I got to understand a lot about the various Project models. I worked on the live projects and  got to understand the requirements as I closely worked with the business folks.  That laid the foundation for what I am today!  My Manager understood my plight and soon sent me to Pune.
The First Job is memorable to everyone.  I had a troublesome past that even continues till today. But still I have fond memories of  my first job.  I never had timing issues as I worked in the US shift and flexi hours through out my career. First Job was indeed memorable!

Dear Zindagi

Dear Zindagi
Source

Dear Zindagi,

One blog post won't fill in everything about  the special bond that we share. Such is our bond! The constant ups and downs have not only taught me a great lesson but also moulded me into a stronger individual. When I was young I had big dreams in my eyes.

I had plans of settling in Europe and dreamt of starting my own business. Maybe you had other plans for me that I fail to recognise. My dreams got crumbled and eventually I found myself like a fish floundering on the floor. That's a great pain. You have been like an entwined headphone to me.  Almost half of the time, I have only wasted all my  time making it straight.  It has been a painful journey throughout. There has been no trace of  joy but yes I saw happiness for a brief period of time in form of some people. You sent me people in form of friends , few of whom were true to me and my friendship and the others who backstabbed me and changed with time. That phase, between 2006 to 2012 , can never be forgotten. That was when you tested me! It's funny that at this moment of time, all the dark thoughts surface in front of my eyes one by one as I type this blog post. Quite evident how disastrous my life had turned into!

It's okay to be sad but let not sadness alone take you down. Sorrow is a strong emotion that holds an important area of the human brain, even more stronger than happiness. I cheer myself when sad thoughts embrace me. Music is my saviour.  Though most of the time, I feel like stranded alone on a deserted island, I would like to say that life got shipwrecked.  At a time, when I was recovering from a nuclear bomb bombarded on my life by Almighty, I soon saw him dropping another bomb. This was even more, stronger and powerful than the previous one that impacted not only me but also my kith and kins.  I see darkness all around. They say if you smile, your melancholy would eventually fade away. But I would snap saying, how can you even smile when you are in darkness and got no hopes from life?  Every time I step out of the home, I look skywards and ask Almighty, " Will you again paint my life with beautiful colours?"

At a time, when youngsters fly around with their wings in pursuit of their goals, I realised that my wings were cropped. With cropped wings, how could one fly so high?  It was then I attached wings and flew in search of my dreams. Dreams are the most difficult things to materialise. To fulfil your dreams, you need constant efforts, support and motivation.  In most people's life, there are people in form of best friends, parents, siblings,  who assume the role of motivator. But in my story, I am the writer, actor, director and storyteller. I am the custodian of my own dreams and playing the role of a  self-motivator is phenomenal. During my home away days, I once mentioned that I see skeletons in my closet. I still see them , but they have grown in quantity. I see hope fading.

Behind every dark cloud, there is a silver lining. There indeed is a silver lining. Miracles happen where hope resides. I'm still hopeful , dear Zindagi. Would life change if you flaunt an animated smile ? Nope, but it only makes you better. Smile a mile and kick all your sorrow out of your life. I understand that this post is full of melancholy but I can't really help, I'm still trying to embrace my life and make the best out of it. Life is what you make it.  Though I'm struggling, I am still finding ways to make it better because I am the actor of my movie and I have to make it big.

Life is a picture of a painting I am nowhere near, but one day I will find that and keep it with me. I won't say smiling erases all your sorrows but it keeps your hope intact. True  that, when God shuts all the door when you are in darkness, he keeps one door open. Almost half of us eventually give up after trying hard to spot that opened door. But we fail to realise that it is an invisible door and God has  a right time and moment to open it. And after that life will be full of happiness and you will be brimming with joy.

Life comes with  terms and conditions that there will be no happiness forever. So learn to embrace life and everything it has to offer you. Embrace sorrow because  like I said before it moulds you into a stronger individual.

Aye Zindagi gale laga le,
humne bhitera har ek gham ko
gale se lagaya hai
Aye Zindagi gale laga le
Hum ne bahane se, chup ke jamane se,
Palkon ke parde main ghar bhar lia
tera sahara mil gaya
Aye Zindagi gale laga le

So dear Zindagi, don't smirk that you have succeeded the first of the game between you and me. I am going to win the second half of the game and win this! Keep SMILING

14001 - The Samjhauta Express

14001 - The Samjhauta Express

Samjhauta Express

The evening sky looked gorgeous displaying a beautiful shade of Orange and Red. It looked unusual for me. There was something peculiar about the sky pattern. I rubbed my eyes and sprawled my legs. Looking at the sky shade indicated that it was evening. I looked around and saw that the train was empty.  There was no one in sight. It was dark.

I lolled on the train seat and wondered what had happened suddenly. The 14001 Samjhauta Express was a ray of hope to some people across the borders. I still remember that Kareem Chacha from Lahore used to regularly travel to India to meet his Khala who lived in Kanpur. Baljit Uncle from Amritsar used to travel to Pakistan using this train to meet his  best friend  Ahmad Khan who lived in Islamabad. The train was a breeding ground for so many amazing stories. I fondly remember the good old days where people used to chit chat with each other and talk about their Indo-Pakistan memories.  The Samjhauta Express displayed the friendship between people from both the nations. It was the government of the two countries that had a poor relationship but not the people. It's on this train where I and few of my friends used to steal Delicious Biryani from Nafeesa Chachi's food bag and consume  scrumptious Aloo Parathas from Amrit Kaur Aunty. That was our way of adventure. But they embraced us with an open heart, at least we felt so. I slowly walked inside the bogey to check if anyone was there. Alas! the train was empty. It was waiting at the Attari Station.

Strolling inside the train, took me back to the memory lane. I reminisced the wonderful bygone days where I used to listen to the India-Pakistan partition stories narrated by older passengers travelling in the Samjhauta Express. I used to narrate those stories to my parents and even they used to wonder about the bond. There is no hatred between the people of these two countries but like I said earlier, its the government that's sowing seeds of hatred.

" Motherfuckers! Not even a single fucking person on this train." I yelled at the top of my voice.
Devastated and Disappointed, I returned back to my seat.
That was when I eavesdrop on a discussion between two Indian railway officials. They were standing outside the train.
"I don't understand when will these Pakistani's stop killing Indian soldiers." The first guy said to the other.
The second person took a sip of the chai and said, "I heard the Pakistani Militants had killed 9 Indian sepoys."
"True. And I don't understand till when will India remain silent on such issues and keep condemning such attacks." The first person said to the other.
I listened to the conversation with complete alacrity.
"I think it's high time India should drop a nuclear bomb on Pakistan and regain it's lost territory." The second person replied.

"Holy Fuck! War is not a cake! It will kill innocent people." I murmured.
I moved my head and turned around to see if I could get hold of someone. But the train was still empty and these guys were talking about wars.
"I actually see no meaning of this train running too and fro between Lahore and New Delhi." The first person said and continued,"  There is no Samjhauta between our two countries."
"The train name is an irony. " The second person said and laughed.
"That's why this train is lying here like an orphan at this border town." The guy said.
I almost freaked out.  "What!!"

As per the discussion, it seemed that the Indian government had decided to discontinue the Samjhauta Express train running between India and Pakistan.
Sad, I sat on my seat, resting my chin on my hand. I am definitely going to miss the wonderful stories between the two countries, I thought.

By now, the evening Sun had almost vanished. The moon, full and bright looked mesmerising.
My eyes aimlessly wandered around as I looked for those two guys outside. They were not to be seen.
I walked towards the footboard. I stood there and spotted those guys again. Their political discussions were never ending.

"Oye Sukhwinder, sunne,  just got the news from our station master," The first person said to the other.
"What news, Boobinder?" The second person asked.
"That our government is planning to reuse this train for some other route,"he said and continued, "We need to clean it and make it ready."

I keenly listened to whatever they were talking.
"Oh Wait, Sukhwinder!" Boobinder, the second person  looked at me.
I freaked out once again. I soon ran and hid  beneath the seat.
"Let me get that Black HIT right away." he continued, " they are such a menace."
He got vexed after he spotted me. He angrily walked to the Office to get the Black HIT.
Once I got to know his future action, I kept running. My life now was in my hand. I had to save myself. I kept running for my life. As I ran, I saw the virtual images of Ahmad Chacha, Kuldeep Uncle, Shana Begum and many other passengers.  How beautiful this train once used to be!
But now ,the train was empty! And I kept running to save my life from Boobinder!

Flowers at the Door Inc.

The early morning sun peeped in through Julia's window as the clock struck 7. Julia was tired after frequent spats with her boyfriend Stanley. She tied her hair up in a bun and  threw open the window curtains. Having  cried the entire night thinking about Stanley, she cursed her fate. She quickly went downstairs and opened the door. Her eyes witnessed a flower bouquet lying in front of her door. While picking the flowers, she located a note.
"Sorry Julia. Let's meet at Mario's at 7.30 PM. Love"  She read  and dumped the flowers  in the nearby dustbin. Stanley was her first love, a best friend for life.  Although they used to fight like a cat and Dog, they  were fond of each other.  Frequent quarrels followed by patch ups described their lovely bond.
It was 7.15 PM as Julia drove her car towards the St. Bernaud's Intersection. Mario's was a local cafe located at the Rocky Beach road. The evening breeze brushed her ebony dark hair as she drove her car along the road. The evening sky displayed  a unique orangish shade and the setting sun only made it look more beautiful. It looked like a beautiful canvas painting. People of all age groups were seen meandering at the beach.  Julia parked her car outside Mario's and stormed into the Cafe angrily. Her eyes scanned through the cafe and saw Stanley waving a hello to her. Maintaining a straight face, she decided not to make the first move. Stanley was busy munching the chicken nuggets. There was a deafening silence for 5 minutes. None of them was willing to initiate a talk.  Stanley and Julia knew each other since the age of 11, from their secondary school days.
The waiter, Antonio, familiar to both came and broke their silence. "Too much of silence too bad for health...Here is a Mario special for Julia," he said and handed her a glass of Bloody Mary. She acknowledged him back with a smile.  She looked at Stanley and saw no feeling of guilt nor repent. That angered her more.
Stanley cleared his throat and said, "Did you get my flowers?"
"Yes, I did," she said. "How was it?" Stanley asked, "Did you like it?"
"It's just artificial as you, Stan!" she said, abruptly.
"And you know I hate fake things. Be it flowers or humans," she continued, "You could have dropped by and said a sorry instead."
Stanley looked at her and replied, "I had some work."
"Your lame excuses as usual." she retorted.
"You  could have sent me a real flower from a garden or somewhere. You know I love roses, the red ones. Real Fresh flowers with a handwritten note would have melted my heart" Her eyes welled with tears.
"I have dreams of togetherness with you, Stan," she said.
"We are 19 already and you couldn't find a job," she added.
"Julia, listen.," Stanley replied.
Julia was mad  at him. Not ready to give him another chance, she decided to leave him. Once bitten , twice shy!
"You know I thought one day you would be famous and I would proudly call you mine." Julia continued.
"We will be," Stanley replied.
"Shut up!" She said, brusquely and left the Cafe.
Stanley sat there for a while. He thought that  like every time Julia would change her mind.  But he failed to realize that it was not in  her nature to bend
The next morning, as usual, he was waiting for Julia at the St. Francis Church. Hours passed,  he never saw her. He visited her house. But she wasn't there. Months passed and he never saw her again. Memories of Julia had started to haunt him. Her absence started disturbing him.
"Real Fresh flowers with handwritten notes would have melted my heart," Her voice flashed on his mind.
Looking at the little kids playing in the garden reminded him of his young days with Julia. They used to meet every day at the same park.
He observed two young couples, very much of his and Julia's age arguing with each other.  "Enough is Enough, Jack.Don't want to see you again," the girl screamed at the guy and left angrily. She  reminded him of Julia. Sooner, he followed her to her house. A few hours later, he purchased a bouquet containing fresh red roses. He wrote a note on it.
"I'm imperfect in a lot of ways but it's you who makes me perfect. I'm sorry for everything. :) Jack! "
He soon placed the flowers outside the girl's door and rang her door bell. He hid behind a tree and watched.  She picked up the flowers and read the  note. She smelled the fresh rose and smiled instantly.  The next day he visited  the same garden and he saw both of them cheerfully conversing with each other. That was when he realised that Julia was right. A fresh flower could melt any girls heart.  He decided to help people like this. And when it worked well, he thought of giving wings to this and setting up his own business.
"Flowers at the Door!" He set up a shop outside his house. He started planting roses in his backyard. He distributed pamphlets in his locality informing everyone about his new business.
"Delivering Fresh flower bouquets across Jacksonville. Fresh flowers can melt anyone's heart. Ready to serve and unite bonds." The Note on the pamphlet read.
One fine afternoon, he was whiling away time at his shop waiting for his first customer. It was hoping against hope and he wasn't even sure if this would work.  It was that moment when he got a call on his landline phone.  It was his first order.
"Stan here from the Flowers at the Door. How may I help you?"
"Listen man. My girlfriend is mad at me. I want you to help me out. Just deliver some fresh red roses at her house with a personalised message," said the voice.
"Sir, any specific message for her?" Stanley asked.
"Anything that you wish,"  said the voice. Stanley noted the girls address.
He soon plucked some flowers from his backyard and arranged them neatly in to a bouquet. He wrote a nice message on a card for her. At 5 PM, he delivered his first order. Two hours, later he got a call from the same customer.
"Stan, man, you are simply awesome. She is impressed." said the person. The guy arrived at Stanley's flower shop and handed him $30. It was his first earning.
The news of his shop and his services spread like a wildfire. People started appreciating his work. 'Flowers at the Door' got famous. He started cultivating seasonal flowers and his business got to a next level.  During this moment of joy, he started missing Julia badly.  She was the sole reason behind this. Her words had inspired him to start this. Something that started as an experiment was growing to a full-fledged business. He started generating great revenues out of it. He hired few people to assist him. He, later on, set up branches in Texas. And eventually 'Flowers at the Door' saw itself scattering across the United States.
Years passed. He worked on improving his business model. Luckily, he had great minds working for him.  He expanded his business to Europe and Asia.  He was shortlisted for the Young Entrepreneur award.  Stanley grew more popular with time.  His company worth increased to $ 1.5 Billion.
At 45, he was already in the top 50 richest men list by Forbes Magazine.  But even during his busy schedule, he never stopped thinking about his first love, Julia.  During the month of October, Stanley was invited for the International Business Summit to be held at Brussels that would be graced by the presence of  various Businessmen of famous enterprises across the Globe.
It was a balmy Saturday afternoon, Stanley was escorted to the Hilton International hotel at Brussels where the event was to be held.  He was awarded with a special award at the Summit.  Sooner, he was interviewed  by a  famous BBC news reporter Cristina Baxley.
"Mr. Stanley Watson, did you ever think that you would reach this far?" the interview asked Stanley.
"To be honest, I never thought. At 19, I was tagged useless by my girlfriend who later ditched me." he replied.
"Oh! that must have been rude," she said and continued, "Didn't you make any attempts of reconcillation ?"
"Not just once, there wasn't a single day when I had not visit her house."  Stanley replied and continued, "It used to remain locked."
"Mr. Watson, that's tragic. I understand how difficult it must have been to lose your first love like that."
"Exactly,"  Stanley replied. "Miss. Cristina, the worst part is that I don't know if she is alive or dead. What I am today is all because of her. I owe everything to her. You all know me as a billionaire and a philantrophist Stanely Watson, but her memories haunt me."
"Why didn't you move on?" Cristina, the BBC interviewed asked Stanley.
"No one loved me so madly like her.  Perhaps I was addicted to her. She was a drug to me." Stanley replied.
"How did you go about with this Flowers at the Door thing?" she asked curiously.
"It's a funny story. It was my attempt to unite two individuals who loved each other. I placed a handwritten note  along with some fresh roses outside the girls house."
"Then.." she asked.
"Then.. it worked. An idea struck me and I created a garden outside my house and then came my first order,"he continued.
"With time we decided to expand our business.  The best thing was people loved us," he said.
"That must be a great motivation to you, no," she said, smilingly.
"Off course it was. People used to write mails and call us informing how much they liked Flowers at the Door. We got some many client testimonials"
Cristina Baxley smiled at Stanley.
"Mr. Watson, we wish you all the best. We wish that your lady love watches this interview and gets back to you."  she said.
"Thanks Cristina." He said," I'm unsure if I would ever meet Julia again. Anyways Thanks!"
He soon left for his hotel room. That night he couldn't sleep properly. There was something that was disturbing him.
"Julia , forgive me baby.." he murmurred as his eyes closed shut.
"I miss youuuuuuuuuuu........Jul..liaaaa....."
The next morning he took the first flight to Texas.  He freshened up and left for his office. He was a workaholic and everyone was aware of his love for his Company.
He started reviewing the mobile application design with his Engineers.
"Mr. Watson, there is an order from someone called Julia Stewarts," the store manager hurriedly came and interrupted Stanley during his meeting.
Stanley's heart almost stopped beating. He quickly rushed to his computer and checked the order number.
"I want you to deliver fresh Roses to your boss. Tell him I am alive and I  still miss him." Reading that his lips curved into a smile.
He made a note of her address that was stored in the database. Sooner, he collected some fresh red roses from his garden and created a bouquet. "Missed you , Julia. No words could express my feelings. I miss you and I'm happy you are back. Love you!"  He wrote a note.
He wore a dapper outfit. He drove his car to Julia's home and placed the flowers outside her door and rang the door bell.
He hid behind the tree and was waiting for Julia.
Julia opened the door and  located the flower boquet lying on the floor.  He smiled as she read the note. She knew it was Stanley.
Julia looked beautiful even at 45.
"Stan, Is it you?" she asked curiously.
Stanley appeared in front of her.
"Stanley.."
"Julia."
"You've grown into  a smart and handsome man," she said," Come in!"
Stanley sat on the couch and looked at her.
"Why did you leave me, Julia?"  Stanley asked.
"Somethings are best unsaid.  One week later ,I had come to inform you that I would be travelling to North Carolina to live with my Aunt Suzzana."  she said.
She cleared her throat and continued, " But I couldn't find you.  I even visited the Garden where we used to sit for hours and talk. You were missing."
Stanley smiled. "No power can now separate both of us now." he said," You  were right?"
"Right about what?" Julia asked.
"Girls do love fresh flowers. It melts their heart."he said," Thats how my business survived."
"Thats true Mr. Stanley Watson, the philantrophist Billionaire," she said ,winking at him.
"I have heard about Flowers at the Door but never knew it was yours until I saw your interview with Cristina Baxley,"she said.
"I love you Julia!" Stanley said and their lips locked.
"You snapped me when I told you that one day I would be famous and you would be proud of me," Stanley said.
"Yes, Stanley, you are mine and I am so happy that we are together. So proud!" She kissed him passionately.

From the Diary of a 21 year Old!

First , Read   "From the Diary of a 16 year old!" before reading this post.

Dear God,

I remember I wrote a letter to you in 2011 addressing my sorry state. It was a horrendous experience and feelings that  bring tears into my eyes. I was 16 then and Doctors seldom knew anything about this rarely found disease for it also had a poor prognosis. But you made me never lose my faith in you. I had turned bland at my own sufferings. You are the supreme power that binds everyone and your sole job is to keep your children happy. Several times, I used to be angry because you gave no heed to my prayers.I'm 21 now and life is horrendous even now. I have grown stronger and stronger day by day. I am not confined to a wheelchair now and my limbs have grown stronger. I no longer hear the babel of voices behind me. But I was used to all this. Life has veered out drastically in the last 5 years.

I no longer feel bad looking at those who studied with me. Some of them are doing their Engineering, while some have excelled in different fields. I am happy with myself because I'm doing what I am good at. Creativity is something that  gives me happiness. It instils a ray of hope in me. Life is harsh but now I realise that it is not that harsh like I had expected it. Everyone has an untold story that no one wants to share or narrate to anyone. That story is the secret that beholds them. My parents tell me that you write a story in everyone's life and that story is how your life shapes up eventually. So I got to be happy with whatever you have given me. Sometimes melancholia haunts me and grips me terribly but I learned that it would be more miserable to curse my own plight.

The United States and the European Union are spending too much money on the research for the Pomple Disease and I am sure someday the cure will be available for this. I still see myself as a once whimsical kid put to test. But I feel I have been successfully passing all those tests. I still hate it when  I see a large ensemble of people bewailing at my sorrowful condition. But I'm special. I've grown more hopeful for I have started to live the normal life. My hope for existence once seemed fizzled but I am happy I don't feel such.  My Cervix still hurts me but I don't care at all. I have learned to live with the pain.I have  a wonderful doctor whom I think to be your best angel whom you have sent to advise and help me. I no longer feel jinxed. But I still ask you the same question that you asked me 5 years back - Will you efface all my sorrows and get me back to normal like how I used to be 10 years back? I remember writing a poem expressing my state of mind.

"I jostled against the tide of time,
nothing is left in the journey of life.

things were thought differently,
never meant to go in such hurry.

I bleed to death with the appalling pain,
fighting to the last for what I have not gained.

Is this what is stored in my destiny,
half way through my life's journey.

expected so many avenues on the way,
but ended up like a seamless castaway"

I am glad I no longer feel the same. Even now I'm longing for the day when I will smile without any fear. I am quite hopeful that that day isn't far. You are my only hope, You are my messiah, You are my Supreme Power, You are my everything. I am happy to have an amazing family who has always stood by my side during my difficult times. These words are not random ramblings but my current state of mind. This disease has prevented me  but it won't defeat me from doing what I dreamt of! My mother always used to say that When God closes all door from my life, he keeps an invisible door for you that he would reveal at some point in time. I am still in pursuit of that insivible door. I am quite sure you will resolve all the problems in my life. I have surrendered myself to you. I will always obey your words and despite all the sufferings, I trust you. I have never given up on you. I promise I have never been bad to my family.  Bree has grown up to be a beautiful girl and is brimming with mighty confidence day by day. Lots of Hugs, Love and Kisses to you, O dear God!

Love,
Emily

If I had a Time Machine

This post is a part of Write Over the Weekend, an initiative for Indian Bloggers by BlogAdda.
Time machine is a machine that's capable of transporting a human being in future as well as the past. There are many movies that have adopted this theme and they have worked well. Think for a bit and imagine if anything as such is constructed in mere future. Wouldn't that be amazing. But it is practically impossible! That's  not going to happen. That defies science.

Suppose if I had a time machine. What all will I do? You might be interested in knowing. I have always been an admirer of science and Vedic Astrology. In the last few  Indian Science Congress conferences held in Mysore and Mumbai, what we saw  and heard was astonishing for many.  Many argued why such elements were allowed to present their papers in the esteemed  Science Congress. Many even termed it as an Indian Astrology Circus for  jumbling Mythology and Science. This amalgamation of Science  and Mythology, many didn't approve of! Because  most of them lacked evidence. It is quite obvious that when you state something you should associate it with  correct evidence.

So by now you must have known what weed I'm going to smoke. Okay If I had a time machine I would definitely visit the time period that the Indian Scientists stated at the Indian Science Congress to know if they actually meant it or just cooked a fantasy story.
So, let's get started. BJP MP Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank of Haridwar constituency had made a statement that Lakhs of years ago an Indian sage Karnad had conducted a nuclear test. India is known to conduct a nuclear test in 1998 under the leadership of Shri ABV and AJP.

So I will first clock the Time machine to transport me to a period where Sage Karnad lived. I will talk to him and make recordings of his Experiment where he was said to have conducted Nuclear Tests. I will have a nice tete-a-tete with him and talk about his experiences. I will collect  as many pieces of evidence as I could if he really conducted those nuclear Tests.

During the inauguration of a Reliance Hospital in Mumbai last year, Our Honorable Prime Minister had mentioned that Karna of Mahabharat was born out of his Mothers womb citing that Genetic Engineering existed in that ancient period. Urging the need to have enhanced technology Modi had said that but to actually be sure of this I would like to travel to the Mahabharat era and enquire about Karna's birth with the help of the time machine. I will ask people from those areas and ask family members of the subject to grab details about if Genetic Engineering really worked in those days.

During the same event, Modi Ji said that Plastic Surgery happened in India for the first time.  The same was mentioned by Kiran Naik in an interview and said that heated sugar was used in the plastic surgery to affix Lord Ganesha's Elephant head  to a Human Torso.  I would transport myself to that period with the help of the time machine. I would  actually witness the surgery and record it. I would talk to the Lord himself and again collect evidence. I wouldn't prefer our Politicians making fun of Hindu Idols for cheap vote gain. But if that really happened then would record all those and bring it back to our current era.

I would then go back to 1000 years and meet Mr. Baudhayana and talk to him more about the Theorem that he invented. Many Vedic gurus and Union Minister Harshavardhan claimed that he had written Phytogoras theorem long before Mr. Phythagoras of Greece wrote it. The entire Western Scientist Community is laughing at us for such statements. So it's obvious that I would bring shreds of evidence from past if that actually happened. I will talk to Mr. Baudhayana and ask about it. If he actually did it and if he did then I would fast forward to Greece and meet Mr. Pythagoras and talk to him about this and inform him that  what he created actually was an Indian's creation and he can't do anything like that.  Only if Baudhayana invented that much before Pythagoras. We Indians wouldn't like the Greeks to take credit of what belongs to us. But that's history. People would laugh at  us if we claim all that now.
Pythagoras crying after knowing that his theorem was already written by an Indian Sage. Image Source

Kiran Naik also mentioned that during the Mahabharat wars helmet was used on Mars. During the wars, there was a chase from Earth to the moon and then to mars where  a king attacked his rival breaking his helmet. So it indicates that helmets were used during  the Vedic era on Mars.  So you know where I would be moving next.  I guess Star Wars movie must have been inspired by this event.

Former pilot Anand Bodas made a claim that others found to be a bizarre claim. He said that Maharishi Bhardwaj of 1500 BC  had laid guidelines how to fly aeroplanes and said that during those days aeroplanes would not only fly between countries, in fact, they would fly between galaxies and planets. And those planes would be too huge powered by 40 Engines. He also mentioned that such planes not only moved in forward directions but moved backwards as well. So I would travel to those days and record the aeroplanes flying between planets and, in fact, experience by sitting in one of them and click photos of Earth, Venus, Jupiter - my Birth planet.  A perfect Star Wars experience! As per Mr.Bodas claims, Aviation technology existed in India in 7000 BC. Isn't that amazing? I would find that by travelling to that age.

But only if I had a Time Machine! Alas, I don't have one. :(
No one would accept Claims without Evidence.  The entire science community would make fun of you if you try to interpolate mythology, fantasy, fiction and science. They would think that you are cooking a good fantasy story.
You need to produce perfect evidence for things that we want to prove right. As an analyst, the evidence is important!

We all could buy those points  only if we had documented proof. Because Science works on evidence. And I wish I had a Time Machine.

From Smelly to Smiley

Hope you don't run like her out from your home.

Smiles and Smells never go hand in hand.  There could be just one either smile or smell!  You cannot have a smiling face in a room with pathetically bad odour. No one loves to be in such an environment. Such an ambience serves as a big source of  distraction. Trust me smell is a big turn off for everyone. Just like a man is judged by  his appearance. A home is judged by the ambiance. It has to smell good. And there are few smells that would make you clip your nose and run out of your home. Through this post I will talk about the different kinds of odours that surface through our house!

I belong to a family of core non veg eaters. We love fish! Yes, all kinds of fish even dry fish.  Don't be surprised if I say we even eat crabs.  They are indeed healthy. But the skins and the shells that is left behind has to be disposed off very soon. If you leave those remnants in your dust bin, then your dust bin would go to coma.  And if you have to take a revenge on someone , you just need to politely ask the person to open your dust bin. I feed bad about the woman who comes to our apartment to collect the garbage. How painful would it be for her to open our dustbin!

IMAGE SOURCE - Dry fish smells Yuck!
And the days when she didn't come , dad would transfer the garbage from the bin to a polythene. That's a very tricky situation for us! No one would touch it!  We all would look at each others face and no one would volunteer for this activity and poor dad has to do that chore. And when my dad opens the dust bin, my sister issues an alert - Run, Every one Run!  And that would seem like a commando officer asking his soldiers to attack.  Spartans, Run, bad smell alert! Even after disposing it, the smell would float in the room. The stale odour would refuse to leave our room .  Such is the bad smell that arises from it. And  the stinking smell travels through the air and reaches every room as an uninvited guest. Of course people detest uninvited guests these days and these kinds of smells are hated by many people. The smell haunts us, pretty much! Even I dislike it for the same reason. An advise for all non vegetarians here - never try frying dry fish at your home. It causes terrible smell and you will have to clip your nose.

To get rid of the stink caused by the fish, meats, chickens and crabs , we use a refreshener or a perfume that never lasts long. Trust me , these days we are spending a lot of  money on buying room refresheners and perfumes. This actually gives an opportunity  for  my younger sister to try different fragrance of perfumes. If she hates it then she would offer it to Mom for it to be used as a smell repellent. That's actually nasty for a perfume to be used as a smell repellant! One day Maasi came to our house as an uninvited guest. She felt a little uncomfortable. She was to stay at our home for a week but she left our house within 2 days citing that she had to meet Mama. But  after doing the root cause analysis we realized that it was the bad smell  that was the main reason. To get rid of smells caused by food, you need to use a good air refreshener.  And there is an old adage that says  - if you can't catch the fish, then change the bait. Here  we don't have any plans of catching any fish but we got to get rid of the smell it causes. We need to change our methods to keep our house clean. There are many room fresheners available in markets but very few of them are effective.  Some would light agarbatti's in their home to produce some nice cool fragrance. Well that's a good idea too but I am not sure how effective it is. Lately we used Ambi Pur and it showed some fruitful results. It's different fragrances are highly impactful.

Rainy seasons are loved by many. I  know people  who wait with baited breath to welcome the rains. Monsoons are the main reason for the foul smelling clothes. That's caused because our clothes never dry up completely due to no sunlight. A partially dried cloth would produce a bad odour. And that's because monsoon are the period when the Sun has gone for a long vacation. Poor thing  after working  hard for days (not night) for months demands  rest. And it changes shift by offering its  job to the clouds who shows its displeasure in form of tears (Read Rains). That's when I miss the sun the most. When it rains continuously without any break, it makes life miserable. We tie ropes in our room from one corner to another corner and switch on the fan in high speed so that our cloths could dry up soon. Sadly that also attributes to the soaring electricity bills. Well the main question here is  how to get rid of those smells. Its a very difficult question to answer.

Also the same applies for winters. Clothes take too much time to dry up due to partial sunlight! Such issues will crop up every now and then! We use the above approach that I mentioned above. What do you do to tackle wet clothes problem during monsoon?

Clothes don't dry up soon in Monsoon & Winter. Thus bad odour at home. Image Source

Another peculiar type of smell that arises is from the sink. Sometimes water there clogs and different elements like hair, dirt etc get accumulated there, giving rise to some strange smell.  And not to forget the stale smell behind the refrigerator. We have to clean it once every week to prevent it from smelling foul. Cleaning the house is essential. But the phenyl smell sometimes hurts the  nose. It is unbearable at times. Also the area near the toilet.  If I could say there are many such typical odours that we smell in our home. Stinky socks, shirts smelling bad, perished vegetables and food, unwashed dishes etc  are few of them.  Sometimes you might feel fed up and sometimes even feel like chopping your nose like the guy below. Don't do that.

Don't cut your nose. Find a solution to bad odour at home

As per a local research, it is known that students whose house smells bad also perform bad in their studies. According to the research, a group of students were selected. Half of them  had a nice smelling home with great ambiance and the other half lived in a house with bad odour. Their performances were measured and tracked. It was noticed that students who lived in a bad smelling home also performed bad in their studies unlike the other half students who scored well.  You must  be wandering who made this research. It's none other than yours truly!  Similarly people shy away from inviting people to their home because of the bad odour. You have an amazing spacious home and why should you  stop inviting people to your home. Home is where the heart is! The first major solution   to kick off those bad odour is to clean our house every day. Cleanliness is next to Godliness. You don't need a Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan for it. Plan a Swachh Ghar Abhiyaan. Cleanliness starts from the home. Use good room refreshener. Like I said before, we have been using the Ambi Pur since last few months and we have been observing some good results. It comes up with many fragrances.  And well, you should be knowing that...

"Ambi Pur doesn't just covers odours, it completely removes them!"

Hug your Dad, your first Hero!

“This father’s day, I am expressing my love towards my dad by participating in the #HugYourDad activity at BlogAdda in association with Vicks.”

Father

It's said that the father is the greatest gift that any individual could ever get. Many would agree with me. Father is like Oxygen to the family. He is a strong pillar and the support structure who is there to guide us and assist us whenever we fall down. Even when we were young , during our crawling days, he carried us on his arms. That soothing touch of a father is beyond words. Fathers day, Mothers day are days that are allotted to honor our father and mother. Trust me if you love your Mom and Dad, why would you need a day in a year to celebrate them. Every day should be a Father's day and Mother's day to every child who can understand the sacrifices their parents made for them.

The role of a father in an individuals life is important. He is like a hero who fights the thugs in the movie. Everyone wants to be like their favorite hero. It is wise to say that every Father is a child's hero. A child grows up watching him. He learns from every small behavior of his dad. Likewise we all know the importance of the Father's day. It is a day to celebrate him. Like I said above, its an understatement to say that we just have one day to celebrate Fathers day.  Considering the roles and responsibilities  of the father in a family, I would say it would be gibberish to just allot one day in a year and honor the father. Every day is a fathers day to me! The one who loves his father doesn't needs a single day to honor him. We just need to have  and hold respect for our parents in our heart.

The role of my father in my life is vast and mighty just as compared to the vastness of the blue sky. It has no boundaries. Every time my dad wished something, he wished complete happiness for me and my sibling. The weirdest fact was that he never  wished anything for himself. Though my mother's role was phenomenal in looking after us when it came to our studies and stuffs, my dad supported her. Every time he got an increment or a bonus , he would bring chocolates and gifts for us. Of course, he loved us. He is strict. He  doesn't belongs to the breed of dad's who would look and keep their mouth shut whenever the child raises his/her voice. He would bluntly say it directly in front of the face if he encountered anything that was wrong. He just wanted us to tread along the right path. Every parent would want that! But sometimes we give a deaf ear to our parents. He may scold us and may have even bashed us with a stick or two. It is not right to detest him on basis of his behavior. Perhaps a sagacious person would judge the right from the wrong. We are determined by our actions and behavior and not our statuses. During this life span, however rich and affluent we may grow to be, but never forget our parents sacrifices and contributions. My dad played a significant role in  my growth. Timely he would imbue within us great qualities and he wanted both of us to be well disciplined. Dad is a cleanliness freak too! And me and my sister are exact opposite of him. Two poles, roads apart. We both would often team up together when it came to listening to dad's lecture. Always remember that your father would often share his life stories with you. My father always did that to us. His mother expired when he was 4 and his father when he was 8. He grew under the shadow of his elder brothers and their family. In such a circumstances, imagine what all kind of difficulties he might have gone through during that tender age. He never gets attached to anyone and it takes a great deal to befriend him. That's because of the childhood! Luckily we have him and Momma. Dad would  ask us to thank god for the amazing parents that we have. He never wanted to be worshiped but he wanted us to love him.  As a child, love your father and don't make all his  efforts and sacrifices go small.

Mere words can't explain all the sacrifices that my father has done for me. Whenever I was low and down, he sat next to me and soothe me through words and gesture. Life  is not easy for everyone. Not everyone is born with a silver spoon. You got to put in efforts to climb up the success ladder. Its your father who stands at the bottom of the ladder and helps you to climb up. But whenever you  reach the top of the ladder, don't forget to look down and see your father smiling at you. A man who betrays his parents is the biggest sinner in this world.  Honour your parents just like you honour your  God.

Sometimes you don't need to gift expensive products to your dad to mark your love for him. It is a day to ensure that you make him feel more special than the other days. Sometimes a Hug or two would do! A hug has immense power that would send a positive wave between two individuals. Emotions travel through the veins just like the blood does! Never underestimate the power of a hug.

Some times we boast about the big things in our life. But beyond every big achievement of yours, there stands a man who sacrificed his entire life. It is the same man who sat next to you and prepared Coffee for you whenever you stayed back late for your exam studies. He is the one who would panic every time you fell sick. After life, your father is the greatest teacher.  He helps in decision making, assists your mother in the household work and in your studies. He comes home tired every night from work but still finds time to talk to you.  Studies reveal that a hug speaks louder than expensive gifts. It is a way to  to convey your love for someone.  Why not convey your love for your dad with a hug?

This fathers day don't buy expensive gifts for your doting daddy. Just go to him, put your arms around his shoulder and hug him tight. Tell him everything that your heart enclosed within. Let the words flow freely! Any words that comes out naturally from the heart has great powers. It has the power to mend broken bonds. Tell him how much you love him and how his presence in your life groomed you into a better individual. Trust me, your father is your best friend.  For me, my father isn't my best friend.  But he is a the best father for me and my sister. If I could ask anything from Almighty then it would be a good health and a long life  full of happiness for my Appa. In my next life, I would vouch for the same dad for he is the best dad one could ever get. All his sacrifices are nothing in front of  my achievements. Thank you Appa for everything.

Expensive gifts can't convey the love that a hug can do. That's why a hug is said to have mighty powers. This fathers day let him know  that he is the best.  Go and hug him now. He doesn't deserves expensive gifts but show give him the costliest gift in form of your hug and make him feel happy. Treat him like a King and be a good Prince to him! Obey your father and listen to all his words. His words are only for your benefit and welfare. Don't give a deaf ear to him. Go! Rush! Tell him that you love him. Hug him now!

Every Father deserves a hug, the greatest gift a father could get from his children!

I love you Appa!

Nivea Men Deodizer Event Experience

It was a fine  Saturday in the month of June that I got a chance to attend a product launch event at the Four Seasons , Worli.  The product to be launched  had too many precursor activities in form of clues and hints. We were send day wise products that had some relation with the product that was to be launched. They had send a card with a man's sketch with his nose clipped, a mask , a small sack with beans and  so on. The actual  product was handed on the last day. It was fun and intriguing! Of course I loved it. Who wouldn't want to step into a detective's shoes.

I along with a select group of  handpicked bloggers across Mumbai were chosen to take part in the event. A well known Bollywood Superstar was supposed to grace the event. The product was none other than the new Nivea Men Deodizer and the Bollywood superstar was Arjun Rampal.  Before he entered we had some fun activity conducted by EI coach and a  behavioral trainer  - Animesh Gupta. He was a talented man who had lots and loads of new things on his knowledge sack. So he was introduced to us by a pretty lady who also happened to be the host for the event. By then the bloggers had already settled. Animesh  divided us into 5 groups and chose two of them in the group to be blindfolded. The rest others from the group would place an item before the blinded participant and they have to guess whats that smell and describe the personality. It was indeed a fun activity! As usual , I was the scrape goat here was well and I had to wear the blindfold on my eyes. I tried guessing few correct ones but I wasn't sure if that was even close to it.

We discussed about body odours and Animesh gave some really good tips on how can we improve ourself and our personality by  grooming ourself  in a better way. In short, shoo the bad odour! There were many discussion items such as - Why the body develops  bad odour? Its reasons? Effects of  day to day things and foods on humans that could produce foul odour and so on.  The most important topic was how to identify and confront a person with a bad odour. And how can we tell  someone if they smell bad without hurting them. Of course, that's a pretty sensitive topic and  no one would really want to do a Michael Jackson on someone's nerve! No, at least I can't. But sometimes you have to!

Bad body odour is natural and its our body's mechanism . So its a cycle and we need to do something to prevent it. Participants asked him different kinds of questions on how to apply the deodorant and all.

Sooner, the Bollywood Hunk arrived, sporting a different hairstyle and a casual look. He  shared his experiences about bad odours and what all he did to overcome it. Of course he is also the brand ambassador of Nivea Men. He spoke about how  Nivea products helped him in the long run and how satisfied he was being associated with Nivea! During the discussion with Mr. Rampal , Super blogger Sanjay Thampy asked him on  his reaction if he confronts someone who says him that he smells really bad. He stood there for a moment and with a smile he said - Say thank you! Of course, you really got to thank someone when they say something that should be taken up as a genuine feedback and not as an offence item!  We then head for a sumptous meal and went back to the  room where the Press conference was organized. The launch event was to be held at the same venue. It was festooned with the Nivea Men banners and it looked grand. The  host invited the M.D of Nivea to unveil the mysterious product and  it turned out to be the Nivea Men Deodizer. Many of us by then had already guessed it. The Bollywood hunk stood next to the Magnificent Nivea Deodizer cut out and he kissed it.  Prior to this they screened a hilarious spoof on Arnab played by Suresh Menon on a topic related to Ban Odour.  It was then followed by a Q & A session with the media personnel's who represented the different media.

We then headed for  tea and we were given a goodie bag that contained the new Nivea Men Deodizer!

I attended the #SniffSniff product unveiling event by BlogAdda in association with Nivea
