Invited by the World

I am going to turn speechless as I type this blog post as I talk about the different events that unfolded during the last Summer. Firstly, my beloved wife Shama ditched me for a solo trip to Europe. It was a few of those depressing days of my life when I saw things seesawing between the past, present and the future. Future seemed bleak without my wife.  Shama left me like a fish floundering on a drenched floor. But little did she know that it was time that could decide the fish's fate and heal the pain. I saw happiness draining away from my life and refill with joy.

15th February 2017
Shama waited for me as the clock struck 11 at night. Being an executive in a top FMCG company, I traveled to many places across the world. Many envied me because of my achievements at a very young age.  Those were the early days of our marriage.  Shama would prepare scrumptious meals for me for dinner. She was a good wife and she showered all her love for me through her food. But unfortunately, my work demanded more attention. Shama was India's top industrialist Jagmohan Kapoor's only daughter. All that she desired from me was my time and my love.  During one of those days, she asked me about my favorite travel destination.  I would jokingly say that my travel bucket list was long. My life as a Senior Executive offered me free business trips to Australia, South America, and the North American cities but I had a dream to travel to Europe. The Euro trip had been a distant dream for me. I always wanted to visit Berlin, Paris, Zurich, Brussels, Amsterdam, Rome and many other famous European cities but my work demanded my time and attention.

After listening to my list, Shama would insist and pester me to plan a travel but I would blatantly refuse. She would remain upset because of my work.
I entered my house and sat on the couch.
"Shama, would you get me some water?" I asked my wife. Before I could complete my statement, she handed me a tumbler of water. I gulped the water and smile at her to which she grimaced. She beckoned me to come for dinner to which I immediately obeyed her instructions and followed her to the dining table.
She sat next to me after serving the food. She had cooked delicious Chole bhature and she knew it was my favorite.

"I was thinking that we should spend some quality time together," she said  and continued, "Maybe we should plan a vacation."
"I agree, baby, but we have an international business audit that is scheduled to happen in the upcoming days," I said.
"So, how does it matter?" she replied.

"It does matter because I am assigned the responsibility to head this," I added.
"Fine, I see no point in this marriage," she said, "I have sacrificed all my dreams and goals for you. JUST YOU."
"You won't even let me work. I am a MBA gold medalist and I am cooking food and washing dishes at Mr. Siddharth Singhal's house.WOW!" she said, tears copiously rolling down her cheeks.

"Yar,  you could hire a maid," I said to her.  "Well, that's not the point, Sid! I am tired of staying at home all alone. I need a break." she replied.
"But, work is important too and this is what pays all the bills," I said and followed her to the bedroom.
She lay on the bed, her face red and swollen because of excessive crying. I wiped the tears from her cheeks and rubbed her eyes.
"I miss the good old days, Sid!" she said, her voice low.
"I understand but I can't leave my work or take a break for a vacation with you," I said brusquely to which she got mad at me. She quickly got up.
"Okay fine, this marriage isn't going to work." she said and continued, "I am going back to my house."

"This is your house," I said.
"My dad's house," she corrected and packed all her bags.
All my attempts to stop her from leaving me seemed futile. All that she demanded was my time and my unconditional love. I was the brightest shining star in her life and she was my world! And I saw my world crashing in front of my own eyes.
I spoke to her dad and Mr. Kapoor didn't want her daughter to suffer in this unfruitful marriage. Maybe I had taken all her love and affection for granted. Like any other woman in this world, she had all rights to grab her man's attention and love. But unfortunately, I was a bad workaholic.

The next few weeks and months were the most depressing days of my life. Her absence started to haunt me badly. She would refuse to pick my phone calls and never replied to my texts. Days were getting bitter and lonely. Her absence was hitting me hard.
I could not focus on my work those days because of this and this distraction was getting noticed at work. The fiasco had cost me big. At work, I was not promoted to the Assistant Vice President role during the appraisals. My boss was kind enough to provide me a long break and  he asked me to return when I got better.

29th April 2017
Two months later when I logged into Facebook to divert my thoughts, I learned about Shama's trip to Europe. She dreamt of togetherness with me and desperately wanted to go for a Europe trip with me which I had neglected. I had completely ignored her feelings, emotions and most importantly her love for me!
"Berlin indeed is a very beautiful city. I am here all alone missing my life! Here for another 2 days before I head to Brussels," read her status message on Facebook.
I quickly contacted my travel agent after learning that my wife was in Europe. I asked him to book a flight to Berlin. He gave me a list of airlines to select from but I preferred Lufthansa as per his recommendations based on its services.
I boarded the flight from the New Delhi International airport and reached Berlin in the next 8 hours. The airline services were incredible and highly commendable. I booked a room at the Renaissance Hotel. I sauntered across the streets of Berlin and stood visually stunned because its beauty struck me hard.  Though my real intentions of visiting Berlin was to meet my wife and let her know how much I missed her! But I was impressed by the city. Berlin beckoned me with its magnificence and rich heritage. I had subscribed to my wife's Facebook notifications so that I could reach her quickly through the Facebook alert messages.

While I was busy admiring a German couple lost in their thoughts, I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket.
'Shama Kapoor-Singhal is feeling loved at Brussels,' read a check-in status.
I quickly booked a train to Belguim.
I saw a series of quick mini statuses from her.
"Who wouldn't love such a pleasant weather?! With Greeneries around, I am munching dark chocolates," her status read with an image of a Belguim premium dark chocolate.
I reached Brussels in the next 4 hours.  I tried hard but I couldn't locate her. It was like we both were playing a game of hide and seek.

Days passed and I got to meet many exciting new places but not her. It was a much-needed break for me. My wife had indirectly invited me to Europe to explore it. I couldn't meet her but I got to see so many amazing famous cities. These cities were once in my to-see list but I had seen them by now. It was an unexpected trip that I enjoyed the most.

Berlin exposed the magnificent,
through museums and gardens I treaded
Amsterdam unleashed the zest of my life
Walked through the lavish green,
nature's mattress at Budapest,
Walked miles in search of my love
Vienna walked beside me hand in hand,
While Rome grabbed me through its beauty,
Stockholm's nightlife,
My taste bud delighted by Prague's street food,
Brussels offered me its rich,
large heritage of dark chocolates,
Athens showed its ancient legacy,
Swam through the lakes of Oslo,
Buried me under the Zurich snows,
Threw tomatoes in Barcelona,
An enriching experience,
With just Paris left,
will I ever meet her again?
Zillion butterflies flutter within,
Waiting for love!

I was sitting on the promenade near the Eiffel tower in Paris. Visibly shattered and disappointed, I was cursing myself for not dividing the time between my loved one and my work.

Shama was very important for me.  Tears rolled down my cheeks.  At the same time, my phone vibrated. It was her Facebook status.

"Done with Berlin, Barcelona, Prague, Brussels, Vienna, Milan, Rome, Oslo, Amsterdam, and Budapest. And guess what? I am at Paris next to the Eiffel tower and guess whom I saw?  That's my crybaby hubby waiting to see the love of his life :P Hahahaha!" I read as I saw an image of me sitting on a promenade.

I rubbed my eyes and checked that it was indeed me. She had discretely clicked a picture of mine.  As I saw the photo, a familiar hand wrapped around my shoulder. Their head rested on my shoulder and I was taken aback when I saw my wife. Yes, it was Shama!

I kissed her and hugged her so tight that no earthly power would separate us again. I had missed her for so long. I traveled the various cities of the European continent but only to find her in the city of love - Paris.
"Thanks, Shama!" I said.
"For what?" she curiously asked.
"for coming back to my life," I replied.
"Thanks to you too!" she said.
"why?" I asked.
"I thought you would never come ..thank god you got my updates," she said," my sole intentions were to bring you to the places that you wanted to visit someday and were not able to because of your work!"

"Yippie, my plans worked well and you were trapped," she said and danced in joy.

I smiled and said," Shama, from now one you come first to me and not my work, Okay?"
She smiled when she heard those words from me.

She wanted to see the old Siddharth Singhal, the jovial, funny guy from  the IIM who loved her truly, deeply and madly. Gladly, I had realized my mistake and now I got to know her worth in my life. Her worth was more than diamond and gold. She was precious to me!
"The world has invited you, Sid!" she said with a smile.

"It's you helped me in fulfilling my dreams of visiting these places," I said.
"Again it's not me, its the world!" she reiterated.
"Shama, you are my world, my main and my everything!" I said and our lips locked again.

"We need to find the real meaning of our life. Life needs a break at times and that's when one should keep exploring the world." she said and continued," We need to fall in love with the different things and places around us and say yes to the world whenever it invites."

"You talk of falling in love with places and I have already asked my travel agent to plan for our next Singapore - Malaysia vacation," I announced.

She was very excited.

"How could you even think that I am leaving you, Sid?" she said and laughed.
"Look at the way you were crying." She laughed again and said, "I am definitely going to narrate this story to our kids!"

And then we lived our life happily!

The Rewind button

I wish life had a rewind button

To be honest, the past few months have been disturbing for my family and my loved ones because of the passing of my sister at a very tender age.  A rare lung disease invaded her life at a time when she had big dreams in her eyes. She aspired to be a famous fashion designer but she had something else in her fate. Maybe the almighty had designed her life in such a way she only had to spend 24 years of her life with her family and rest with her almighty father, the Lord himself.
I never had any ambitions or hopes of getting back to writing. Just that writing was a good outlet for me to express my emotions and expressions. I never felt like writing in all these days after the tragedy. But somewhere in my heart, I had decided to get back to writing because I understand that it is the one that will heal my wound and sooth the pain that I am suffering since the past few months.
I saw this below topic in the Indiblogger Blogger's community and this instantly affected me. I am not sure what the guy was thinking while he suggesting this topic but he did a good job for me and provided me with an opportunity to get back to regular writing. This is the topic.

For people who have been regularly reading my blog since its early stages would have known about my love and affection for my little sister. She was the tiny little world for me and my parents. She was my adorable princess and a doting little daughter to my beloved parents. We had done a lot for her happiness.  She wanted to study and we let her study whatever she wanted even with such a health condition. Her enthusiasm for studies and creativity was very much high. Maybe almighty detested this and snatched her away from us. I have written many blog posts about her.
I remember it was 2010 when she got the first symptoms of black-outs and how the disease hid and showed up two years hence. We went to all the specialists but each one of them had to suffer and struggle to find the root cause of these symptoms and our heart grew weak when we were informed that she has a disease that had no cure in Medical science. She was shattered, discouraged, heart broke when she came to know about this. After reading the scary stuff on the internet, she was assured that she will never live a long life and she can't live a quality life.
If I had a rewind button, I would go back to those days and completely erase this disease from her body if I had a superpower. You never know much I am missing my little sister. I feel like having lost a part of my own self. Such was the love I had for my beloved sister.  I am very sure she is doing well in the heaven under the observation and care of the almighty but no love can defeat a mothers love. I shall use the rewind button and keep my sister with me and erase all the melancholia from our life that followed after 2010.
Life is harsh and I already experienced it.  I hope to be regular on this blog. But I can't promise though! Take care everyone and be good!

It's all because of blogging!

It's all because of blogging!

I agree that blogging has got in lots of significance in my life. Of course, it helped me in making my life less boring. I started blogging at a time when people didn't know the definition or perhaps the idea of a blog. In fact, when someone asked me about my hobby, I would smirk and find out ways to get rid of this question. Blogging was my hobby. I would research during my leisure time and find interesting stuff to read. It was during one of those leisure time that I discovered the idea of blogging. I agree it was no fun but yes I saw the emergence of new blogging communities that tried to build up a model conceptualizing blogs. Of course, many of these communities grew big and minting good money. For once, I never thought that blogging would be a good business for many in future. I come across people compiling stuff from multiple websites, changing the verbiage and constructing a brand new post out of it.  That is the new world of blogging. Some tag it plagiarism. Originality is something that has gone for a toss. No longer people love original stuff.

Talking about the good old days, I really didn't know how and why I started this blog. This question perturbs me even after 11 glorious years of blogging. WHY? I had no intentions of making money out of it nor I did want to impress people or may be transform into a big writer or make a living out of blogging. No, I had no such plans but still why I chose to blog?  It was a random experiment. Just that I was good at writing essays during my school days and kids (my schoolmates) used to nag me to write compositions and essays. Since childhood, I never had this habit of saying NO. I am learning to say NO but I simply can't. That is one of the strength that I mention during my interviews when the Interviewer asks about my strength.  Well, the idea is simple. I write for myself. I love it, so I do. Isn't that simple enough?!

By the time I stepped into my final year,  I saw an unusual trend. People who used to mock at the very idea of blogging started creating blogs and I even know many who are successful at it. Brands started approaching these so-called Online Blogging communities and started paying them big to make the bloggers write about topics.  I somehow believe that the blogging started to get commercialized during this period. I witnessed a healthy rise in the number of active blogger participation in these contests. Some of them even crossed boundaries and limits to ensure they won the contest. I remember the days where whenever I logged into Facebook, I would get chat messages on the messenger asking me to write nice comments on their blog posts and share them on my profile.  I admit I did this for some but eventually, I got irked. It was during that time that I, with my two other friends started an online community blog named 'The Writers Lounge' that advocated collaborative writing and it was created for the love of writing. People who loved writing and reading good articles were always welcomed. Our doors were always opened for them and Sandeep Balan and Asbah Alaena played a vital role in it.  We grew up into a good team but as they say that everything has an end. Our dearest Lounge faded too quick. I have many fond memories associated with that web space. Be it the creation of Sandeep Malan or the StepMan, a spoof series based out of co-founders Sandeep Balan and yours truly (StepMan for Ste) or be it Excellence in Writing or any other creative writing, we loved it all. I would find the opportunity to come online and visit that place even if I had a limited internet access.  Oh, Wait! there was fun too.

But I started abhorring the idea of writing for brands then. It felt like dictating terms and conditions but yes, I stay guilty too. Even I have participated in many of those contests and even won some. My first even blogging victory was some Surf Excel contest where I won a consolation prize of a wireless mouse that I still have! The idea of genuinely writing comments on blogs dimmed. I gradually started growing into a butterfly from a caterpillar as I stepped into the corporate life that welcomed me with lots of challenges. I understood that this was a different world and to make most of it, I had to focus less on blogging. But still, whenever I had an opportunity, I did write and made the most of it. With each passing day, I started getting more chat pings on Facebook, with people asking me to write comments, like and vote for them. Some would even tag me on their facebook posts. Many unknown strangers would send friend requests on Facebook and the very next moment they would send invitation to like their Facebook Blog page. Amazing, Isn't it? Some would get more creative and tag a bulk of bloggers on Twitter. Thanks to Twitter for lifting the character limitations on images and some bloggers make good use of it. Some bloggers do have their own Bloggers broadcast list on Whatsapp where they would regularly update by sending messages whenever they posted a new blog story.  I should agree that bloggers get more creative. We, as bloggers, should learn to explore opportunities whenever available.

The entire essence of blogging as an area of improvement for writing has collapsed. Blogging may fit into a category of media but remember that blogging is something that is going to be the best thing in future. Brands will keep flooding, looking for bloggers, shelling out money. That's how blogging has evolved from the early 2000's till now!
Never stop pinging me to like your blog posts or read it, I admit I'm busy these days but that doesn't stop me from reading your stuff.  When I look behind, I laugh at myself that something I started as a random experiment has earned a lot for me in these years. I have met the best of people, best of writers, earned great contacts, made best friends and what not.  It's all because of blogging!

Why Mumbai is the best city in India?

Mumbai - they say that this is called as the city of dreams. Yes, how true is this! People migrate from small villages to this city in order to fulfill their dreams. This city welcomes them with open arms. That’s the best part of this place. It never says no, never!

Mumbai is well connected from within and outside.  Through a neat transport system, people can travel from one place to another through the local trains and the public buses. Also autos and taxis run from places to places that make things easier. So accessibility was never an issue. A good characteristic of a city is that it should be well connected and accessible. People here are quite helpful. If you are lost somewhere then they will guide you properly with the routes. The city is designed in such a way that it is geographically divided into different regions such as South Mumbai, North Mumbai, Suburbs, Navi Mumbai, and Thane and so on though Thane is a separate district on the outskirts of Mumbai.

You can drive along the road and reach your office every day. Excluding some roads, most of the roads are neat and the traffic is less during the normal hours. Albeit the traffic is slightly on a higher scale when it comes to rush hours but there are very few who complain about it.  With the induction of Metro railways, the connectivity between the Central and the Western line is now possible. The journey that normal takes around 1 hr and 15 minute is now wrapped up in around 15 minutes.  So a lot of time is now saved with the arrival of Metro trains.

The South of Mumbai is said to be bliss.  Also known as the town side, this part of the city hosts several historical monuments and some amazing tourist destinations. It is clean and attracts lots of tourists from various countries.   The Gateway of India which is listed on the World Heritage site is a famous monument where people visit. Whoever visits this wonderful city ensures that they visit the Gateway of India.

Sometimes you might wonder why this part of this country is over populated.  Yes, this particular city. It is because people see lots of job opportunities here that make them to travel here. It is a good market for investors and there are lots of IT companies here that give bread and butter to several Engineers. Such is the impact of this city on people.
Aforementioned, the design of the city is incredible. It is connected via trains and buses. The Chatrapati Shivaji Airport is one of the busiest airports in the country. Thus because of all the factors mentioned above I would like to highlight that Mumbai is one of the best cities in India and the World.

Frankly Speaking with God!

The other night I was thinking about various things that bothered me at that moment that included things like sorrow, wars, extremist activities, natural calamities and so on. I was wondering if God  popped in front of me what all questions I could throw  at him! But yes he did!

"Hey God!"

"Hello Son!"

"I was just thinking about you and for a moment I think I am hallucinating."

"No not at all. I am here to answer your questions."

"Yes, I have too many questions to ask you and I wish you had answers for that."

"I am all ears ,dear."

"Here is my first question for you. Why do you test people who love you?"

"First of all let me tell you that I don't test people who love me or don't love me. This world is my creation and everyone who is born in this planet belongs to my family. You all are my children, son! How can a father test his children? Can he?"

"No God! A father doesn't tests his children! You are right!"

"Yes see, you too agree with me! " God said  with a smile.

"I don't test them. I just give them a dose of difficulty. Its an ingredient for life.   Life should be equally composed! It should be like a perfect song. I subject them to difficult situations so that my children become strong and gain more strength to address such situations. Its all about sustainability. I love you all! Trust me! How can I detest you? "

I calmly looked at him and smiled.

"Even if I test them. I want them to pass the test with flying colors." He winked at me to which I smiled.

"My second question for you. It's generally said that people only remember you when they deep drowned in extreme sorrow. What do you feel about it?"

"Yes. I do feel bad. As I said before, we all belong to one big family. If you remember me in your  bad time and days of struggle and hardships, you should also remember me in your days of happiness. Shouldn't I deserve to be a part of your happiness too? Don't I need my share of happiness in your life? I do need."

I looked at him and smiled.

"You are kind!"

"Just like you are!" He said and continued, "I would like to  answer your next question."

"My next question for you is - some people generally believe that you bring sorrow to their life and you betray them? Whats your take on this?"

"Well. Let me ask them why I do that. If I push them in a dark room full of sorrow and melancholy I do that wish some purpose. There is no hidden agenda on it. But they should also know that if  I give them pain, I give them happiness too! They are deep immersed in sorrow and fail to realize that I have constructed a door on the other wall. But they are only concerned about their sorrow that blindfolds them. And their problems seem huge to them that they fail to see the other door. I want them to find a solution. And that solution lies on the other side of the room. If they open the door, there they will see the bright light, the happiness! In fact happiness that will bring back the lost  joy back to their life and shoo away all the melancholy. I love my children."

"And some say that there is no God. Whats your view on that?

"Then who am I?" He winked at me.

"I need to rush now. I got to listen to few prayers tonight. I will get back to you soon. It was nice talking to you, Son!"

This is my first post for IndiSpire!

OYO Rooms Review - My OYOxperience

PS - This is   my  review post consisting of my OYO Rooms stay experience. OYOxperience - I call it. All the images in this post has been clicked by me. (c) ingeniousty

Most of us love travelling! Don't we? If given a chance I would stroll across the breadth and length of this country and I would also love to stroll across different cities across different countries. Unfortunately my job doesn't permits me to meander across places. I am no vagabond! Of course, if you belong to that league of people who have to travel across various cities  then this post would definitely provide you insights about places where you could stay during your voyage. This could be a trip - business, meeting or anything.  Every one wants to cool their heels at a place that would give them peace. You just need the best for the money that you shell. Yes, I am talking about the location - hotels to be precise. The hotel should be affordable and should take care of several factors such as hygiene, cleanliness, service, food etc. Recently I came across something called as OYO Rooms. The concept fascinated me. I researched about it and further on I would be posting the review of OYO rooms and  my OYO experience.  OYO Experience - Yes, you heard it right.

But without much ado, let me  say few things about OYO rooms.
It is  the fastest growing branded network of budget hotels. It was founded in 2013  and has more than 350 hotels under its brand.  It  has grown from a single 11 room hotel in Gurgaon in May 2013 to  4000 plus rooms across 350 + hotels in various cities of India.  I recenty had the opportunity to visit the OYO room at Hotel Atlantic at Juhu Tara road in Mumbai. I, along with 9 other bloggers from Mumbai were greeted by the OYO representative Nijish.

Digital India - a dream , a vision, a plan!

Digital India - a dream, a vision, a plan! Image Source

The Government of India recently came up with an initiative to integrate the different sections and departments of the Government and the people of India.  The ultimate goal is to ensure the availability of the government services to people through the electronic medium. The initiative labelled as 'Digital India' also aims at  establishing a high-speed internet network zone in rural areas. Of course, change is inevitable  but to see a change certain actions have to be taken. The government of India has rightly started the Digital India programme to digitize India by making good use of technology to enable  access of services from Government sectors to the citizens. Be it Banking, Education, Healthcare, Agriculture or any core sector  for that matter  is the key focus area under this programme.  It is chaired by our honorable Prime Minister.

“Today, when diagnostic machines have replaced the doctor’s expertise to a large extent, I want companies to come to India and manufacture expensive equipment needed for medical treatment, I want FDI to come into the sector. If hospitals like this are part of the network providing medical advice through telemedicine, quality health care can reach people living in remote areas for which Digital India can come in handy. I want the Digital India initiative to be effectively used for improving medicare and education."

- Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India.

He has a great vision for the benefit of the nation and its citizens. The concept of Digital India is also linked in establishing various smart cities in India. With a booming economy, great innovations and advancements in technology, we need to act responsibly and smartly to ensure that we reap useful things from what technology has to offer us.  It is also tipped that in the upcoming next few years this would definitely prove beneficial for consumers, business and society. The ultimate value add that it has to offer is to connect the market and the
consumer through a digitized system.  But there are few points that need to be highlighted to attain a Digital India dream.

1. Facilitate and ensure affordable access with easily available data enabled services in form of Internet plans. Implementation of a channelized system such as mobile wallets that involves digital transactions and easy payments. Mobile wallet could be an ambitious plan and it would definitely work positive for the citizens. Low cost internet and internet enabled devices will always help! There should not be a disconnect between Rural and Urban India in terms of digital infrastructure facilities. High speed network coverage is a must in rural areas in order to give life to the Digital India plan. Also the government should motivate and incentivise Telecom players to provide cheap and affordable data plans.

2. Online distance education plan that provides free education to everyone wishing to avail education. We should feed our nations dream of 100% literacy and this point would prove beneficial to achieve this dream.

3. An e-governance mechanism to facilitate all stakeholders to function effectively

4. Ensuring an environment that allows consumer and market to  venture and connect with each other

5. Creating a digital workforce.

6. Creating awareness among  people residing in rural India emphasizing the advantages of Internet and thereby educating them to enroll in various digital education programmes.

7. Connect tier 1,2 and 3 cities by harnessing the potential of the internet.

8. Creating a common access channel for public access to internet. Internet has always been acting as a messiah since the last 2 decades and a lot has been said about it. One needs to harness the best out of it!

9.  Create a  repository of personal data in forms of certificates and belongings through a private  secure cloud network. A unique pin or an identification number would be generated for a person. Using this digital identification number , the person can access his private cloud network that would have access to all his details. So during important government activities, he or she doesn't needs to provide the entire list of documents. They just need to provide their unique cloud identity number that would contain his document details.

10. All transaction and services to be done from online and mobile. Digital India aims  to provide governance and services on demand. All the different departments of the Indian Government would provide online facilities to people to connect.  Another important goal or vision is to make financial transactions electronic and cashless. Few of the above points has already implemented such as  online  and mobile banking. It seems to be an ambitious project and a lot of efforts  have to be taken to bring this into reality.

Let's talk about the different areas or sector  that can be coupled with the dream of having a Digital India. Healthcare, Banking, Education, Judiciary , Agriculture  are few of the areas that can be considered under the Digital India programme

1. Healthcare
The healthcare sector is lagging in our country. A comparison with the Western countries reveals great facts. Being a healthcare consultant, I am very much aware of how healthcare can be a golden fish and help in raising the standard of the nation. US has various reforms  such as the meaningful Usage MU2 and others that have various facilities and provisions to citizens. Unfortunately, we are lagging behind with this. A large population of our country resides in rural areas where medication facilities are sub standard.  Electronic Healthcare is ambitious, but it provides hope to raise the standard of living. How about developing  online clinics with the help of technology. A patient record  through means of a unique Medical Record number could be stored in an Electronical Medical Record system which is basically an online storage repository to store patient medical  and health details. All the details could be stored in the online cloud created for the particular patient. Through an online clinic, the physician would get access to all his patient records. In case, the physician  or the doctor needs to prescribe medicines to the patient, then he could prescribe medications through the EMR that would send the medications details to an ePharma tied up with the eClinic. The ePharma would send the medicines to the patient's house and the amount would be deducted through  the patient's electronic money wallet. All the records would be available in the cloud and the doctor would be having access to the cloud. This concept is actually complex and is  ambitious. There are lots of disconnects when it comes to delivering health care and a better access to quality healthcare is everyone's  right.

Various departments of the Government could act as interfaces and help in easy transaction! Suppose in rural area, a woman is pregnant and has delivered a baby. Her financial condition is tight and later on such a crisis situation it would be dificult for her to manager her children. In such a case, the child welfare department could store all the new born details on its database. The finance department or an  equivalent ministry could provide money to the family so as to help in the growth of the child. Thus in such a way healthcare sector can be digitialized.

2. Education
Everyone knows that the education system in India is complex and it needs to be reviewed and revived. Through the Digital India programme, a  digital university could be set up that would work in unison with the various universities, schools and colleges across India. It would be connected through broadband and free WiFi services could be provided to the schools and colleges. Digital Literacy is something that is good from a long term perspective.  Countries like the USA, Singapore, China and Japan have already adopted this!  Through various multimedia and interactive learnings, students develop a good interest level in studies.  eLearning and eEducation should be given high importance as it could be the next big thing. A Digital Library should be set up by the government that will enable access to documents and high-quality materials. Its high time to switch from Traditional Educational system to a Digital System

3. Banking
Banking is an important core  sector in India. Most of the key banking features such as online and mobile banking has already been made online but still this needs to be actively used by rural population. However they need to be mentored and educated about how to Bank through internet and mobile. They are still lagging and eBanking is something that would help.

4. Agriculture
It would be great to couple technology and agriculture. Farmers  have been struggling in India since the last few years due to lack of finances and many other issues. You must be thinking how technology could help them.  Real time price information, provision of online cash and loan facilities needs to  implemented for farmers.

The public grievances and concerns redressal system should be made online. It should contain a utility to map the different sectors, associated officials and geographical location with the concerned ministry. Thereby necessary actions could be taken against the corrupt officials.

A large number of Digital workforce has to be established like I said earlier. This would create  various job opportunities. People from villages could be given job through proper training and mentorship programmes.

The Road and Transport ministry could also contribute to the Digital India programme by ensuring that a commuter is safe on his journey. A timely reminder about different journey routes, timely region specific traffic updates on SMS basis could also help.

The Railway Department  has been setting up a good example for the Digital India programe. Through IRCTC, the Indian Railways aims at providing railway tickets to its users. Manual efforts could be reduced. A lot of infrastructural upgrades in terms of large number of servers, managing transactions during  peak ticket booking hours should be addressed. This is a great revenue generating department and hence a lot could be done if things are properly implemented.

The  Income Tax department provides online payment of taxes and filing returns. The Passport and Election departments have their online presence too.

Recently the Government of India has launched a platform to connect with the citizens so as to provide ideas and plans  as a medium of interaction with the common person. It is called MyGov.in. Do join this and see for yourself. It is a one-stop portal to get access to various Government departments.

There are lots of advantages of the Digital India Programme. It is indeed an ambitious project. The road to success is never easy. Our country is rapidly developing and every developing economy needs to pay emphasis on technology. Implementation is one of the major challenge. This is a large scale programme and a lot of effort needs to be put in order to materialize it! If everything works well, then our nation would be a digital one. A lot can be said and a lot can be done too! As a citizen of this country , I only think for the betterment of this nation. A technology driven system is something  that could do wonders.

If the words, programmes and projects  translate into actions, implementation and reality, then one day our country could be a digitalized country. I dream of a Digital India!
